Last Saturday I helped shoot my first Muslim wedding/ Nikkah. This was one
large wedding with about 500 guests, pretty much four times bigger than any I’ve shot before. Despite the huge numbers, it wasn’t as bad as i thought. Abdul was an incredibly easy groom to shoot, always smiling and laughing, a really great guy. The family and guests were so friendly and really enjoyed themselves, which makes the photography side much easier.
Dudley Williams, the main shooter, shot the bride, Kay, whilst I shot Abdul before the ceremony, then we joined forces later on in the day. Seems straight forward? Well not quite. They then had another wedding the following day, which was the civil ceremony, so that the marriage was deemed legal. This was a more traditional wedding; white dress, horse and carriage, cake cutting etc. I’ve put a small slideshow of the two days for you to have a look at.
